Grilled Chicken Sandwich Recipe

Ultimate Grilled Chicken Sandwich Recipe


For the chicken-

  • 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp oregano seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp honey

For the sauce-

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup barbeque sauce
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1-2 tbsp honey
  • Salt and pepper

For the burgers-

  • 4 burger buns
  • Lettuce (Optional)
  • Tomato slices
  • Sliced onion


  1. Slice the chicken breasts in half using a sharp knife.
  2. In a medium bowl combine the lemon, olive oil, seasoning, garlic powder, salt, pepper and honey and mix well to combine.
  3. Marinate the chicken for at least an hour.
  4. Heat a grill to medium heat and add oil to prevent sticking. Lay the chicken onto the pan and cook each piece for 3 minutes per side and then cover it for 2 to 3 minutes to trap the moisture,
  5. Continue until you have cooked all 4 pieces of chicken.
  6. To make the sauce, add all ingredients to a small mixing bowl and mix well to combine into a thick, silky sauce.
  7. To build the burgers, spread some sauce onto each half of the buns, layer on the lettuce, add the cooked chicken and then top with sliced tomato, red onion and the other half of the bun.

Cafe-style Grilled Chicken sandwich


  • 2 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 tbsp garlic and herb butter
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 6 thick slices of bread
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise, or to taste
  • 4 slices tomato
  • 2 lettuce leaves


  1. Preheat the pan to medium-high heat.
  2. Prick chicken breasts all over with a fork. Place chicken breasts, 1/4 cup olive oil, white wine vinegar, lemon juice, garlic and herb seasoning, ground black pepper, and chopped fresh dill Stir to coat chicken breasts completely. Let stand for 10 minutes.
  3. Remove chicken breasts from marinade, discard marinade, and grill chicken for 10 to 15 minutes on each side.
  4. Remove from grill; let stand for 5 minutes. Cut chicken breasts in half.
  5. Melt butter and 2 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sprinkle garlic powder and salt over butter and oil. Add bread slices to the pan and toast until golden brown on one side.
  6. Place one slice of French bread with toasted side down onto a serving plate and spread mayonnaise on bread.
  7. Top with a slice of tomato, salt and ground black pepper to taste, half a grilled chicken breast, and lettuce.
  8. Coat the untoasted side of another slice of bread with mayonnaise and place on top to make a sandwich!

    Now you have two perfect grilled chicken sandwich recipes for your guests. You can even replace the chicken with tofu or other meats!
