Sirloin
The Sirloin is a type of steak and it comes from the sirloin section of the near the rear of the animal. The sirloin is often sold as a boneless steak and it is more affordable as compared to other types of steak like the ribeye and T-bone steak. Flat Iron Steak
This is another type of steak and it is cut from the chuck section. The steak is called a flat iron steak because it is taken from the upper portion of the shoulder blade and it is cut in a triangular shape that is reminiscent to that an iron. The flat iron steak is very budget friendly and the other advantage of buying it is that it is very tender and flavourful. The flat iron steak can be grilled, boiled or even pan fried.
Flank Steak
The flank steak is another type of steak that is derived from the belly of the cow. The flank steak is regarded as lean meat and it’s very flavourful. The flank steak is not a tender steak but it is also not the toughest steak. The flank steak is very budget friendly. When cooking this type of steak it is best to marinate it and cook it over high heat.
Hanger Steak
The hanger is another type of steak that gets its name from how it is positioned in the body of a cow. The hanger steak hangs over the rib and the loin whilst supporting the diaphragm. The hanger steak is a bit cheaper as compared to other types of steak. As stated by Hyper Meats, the hanger steak has an intense beef flavour and in order to tone it down a bit, it is advisable to marinate the meat using an acidic marinade for example one which is made of wine, vinegar or citrus juice. For the best results, cook hanger steak on high heat.
Rump Steak
Rump steak is also another type of steak that is often called round steak. The rump steak is one of the least tender types of steaks and because of that it is least expensive type of steak. The rump steak is derived from the hindquarters of the cow. If you are planning on grilling a rump steak it is advisable to start by marinating it. The rump steak can also be cooked by either boiling or pan frying.
Skirt Steak
The skirt steak is one of the toughest steaks and it is derived from the plate section of the belly. The skirt steak is very tough because it contains a lot of connective tissues but when cooked correctly it has the ability to become juicy and tender. If you want to marinate skirt steak then you have to marinate it for at least 30 minutes.
Flap Steak
The flap steak is another type of steak that is derived from the bottom of the sirloin close to the flank section. This type of steak holds seasoning very well and it is budget friendly.
Cube Steak
This is also another type of steak and it is a thin cut of steak from the round section of the hindquarters of a cow. The cube steak is very easy to cook and they are best cooked using the pan frying method.
